Whether you have a puppy or an adult dog, at some point you will need to give them a bath. Many people take their dogs to the groomers to receive a bath, it is quite easy to do at home. We have listed 7 steps to help you best bathe your dog.
7 Steps to Bathing Your Dog
1. Where? We bathe our puppies in a small washtub and then in a very large deep sink, our adult dogs are bathed in their shower or on a really hot summer day outside in a wading pool.
2. You never want to get water in a dogs ears, so we recommend putting cotton in their ears in case you get water in that area the cotton will absorb the water.
3. Get your dog completely wet, if they have long hair make sure the hair underneath is completely wet at all.
4. Take a dog shampoo and rub it in your hands and then lather up your dog. We like to use a shampoo by Life’s Abundance.
5. Rinse the shampoo out of the dogs hair.
6. Dry the dog with a towel then a hair dryer on cool setting.
7. Remove the cotton from their ears and take Apple Cider Vinegar on a cotton ball and rub it inside their ears to remove any water than can still be inside.
We bathe our dogs about every month and have them groomed two to three times per year. Australian Labradoodles need to be brushed several times a week, and ears cleaned as well. At Ashford Manor Labradoodles we brush our dogs regularly to maintain healthy dogs.
Ashford Manor Labradoodles is Indiana’s responsible breeder of the Australian Labradoodle. Our puppies are trained from the day they are born until the day they enter your home. Our adults are tested as needed, and we are members of the Australian Labradoodle Association of America.
