Dogs, like humans, can suffer from allergies. The most common food allergies among dogs are pork, rabbit, chicken, fish, egg, corn, soy, wheat, dairy, and beef. If your dog is allergic to one of these common food ingredients the following symptoms might show up.
Signs of Dog Allergies
*itching
*poor coat quality
*obsessive licking
*skin rash
*hives
*chronic diarrhea
*vomiting
*chronic gas
If your puppy has any one or more of these symptoms, please call your veterinarian. They will be able to advise on what steps you can take to confirm whether or not your puppy has an allergy.
We have found that most dogs are allergic to chicken because of all the hormones injected in the birds. We recommend people going to a beef and rice diet to allow the chicken to get out of their system. By eliminating everything except beef and rice for a period of at least one month, you will know if they are allergic to either of these foods.
We then recommend introducing only one food at a time for a period of one month. This will help you know how your canine companion does with that particular food.
