Looking for a playful way to engage your pup’s body and mind? Try the Leap Over MeGame! This game turns you into the obstacle and helps your doodle practice focus, coordination, and confidence.

How to Play

1. Sit on the ground facing a wall with one foot pressed against it so your leg is stretched out in front of you. Your leg becomes your dog’s “hurdle.”

2. Have your pup stand on one side of your leg. Toss a small treat or cookie over your leg. When your dog steps across to get it, cheer them on!

3. Now toss another treat back to the other side. Soon your pup will be happily stepping back and forth over your leg.

4. As your dog gets comfortable, you can make it more challenging. Start by sitting on a pillow, then progress to a low stool, a laundry basket, and eventually a chair. The higher your leg is, the more your dog has to hop — so move slowly and let your dog build confidence step by step.

Safety First

• Always play on a soft, non-slip surface such as carpet, rugs, or grass.

• Avoid hard floors like tile, hardwood, or laminate, which can cause slips and injuries.

• Keep sessions short — jumping is fun but tiring!

Training Takeaway

• The Leg Hop Game is more than exercise — it’s also training. Your dog is learning to follow cues, build coordination, and respond to your encouragement. Pair a consistent word like “hop” with your tosses, and soon your doodle will associate the word with the action. Over time, you may be able to say “hop” and watch them leap on command!

• This game helps burn energy, strengthen your bond, and gives your dog a fun way to learn something new. Just remember — take it slow, keep it safe, and celebrate your pup’s progress along the way.
